Experience & qualifications

21.5 years retired USMC Master Sergeant, 2.5 years ground combat in Vietnam as an artillery forward observer, USMC Scout Sniper Instructor, several years on the USMC Rifle & Pistol Team, 1985-6 Team Coach for the Pistol Team.  After retiring, I went to work for the US Department of Energy’s Central Training Academy as a firearms and tactics instructor where I taught pistol, rifle, sub-machine gun, and sniper rifle to DOE and law enforcement agencies.  I spent 3 months in Iraq doing security work.  I am currently an adjunct instructor for the DOE and an adjunct instructor at the prestigious Gunsite Training Center. 

2007

Mr. Heckart continues to conduct training overseas for the US Department of State in their Anti-Terrorism Assistance program.  Working for the US Department of State, he went to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to teach counter terrorism tactics to Pakistani anti-terrorist police units.

2006

Contracted to the US Department of State Anti-terrorist Assistance Program and did a Crisis Resolution Team class in Yemen and a class in Pakistan. Conducted 6 month crisis resolution training in Indonesia teaching counter terrorism techniques and tactics to their anti-terrorist police units.

2005

Contracted to the US Department of State Anti-terrorist Assistance Program and did a Crisis Resolution Team class in the Republic of Yemen and a class in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan where he helped train police units in counter terrorism firearms and tactics techniques.  Lead instructor for a police counter terrorism sniper  technique class in Ukaraine.

Certifications

I have attended numerous military and civilian firearms schools.  I actively shoot USPSA and Tactical 3-Gun competitions.
