Introduction to Firearms - 1 Day

GENERAL PISTOL (2 Days)

This class is designed to build on the basics and your experience. It shows you how to safely and effectively own and use a handgun. It will provide you with improved handgun shooting techniques that will increase your accuracy and speed in short range situations.

  • Safe gun handling for personal defense or action sports
  • Marksmanship for practical shooting (competition or defense)
  • The combat triad (combat mindset)
  • Proper grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control
  • Safely drawing, loading, speed reloading, unloading, malfunction clearance
  • Malfunction identification and clearance techniques
  • Efficient reloading techniques
  • Shooting positions
  • Mental preparation
  • Firearm disassembly and assembly
  • Out to 25 yards on paper and steel targets
  • 1000 rounds

TACTICAL PISTOL (3 DAYS)

  • The Modern Technique of the Pistol

  • Combat mindset

  • Shooting positions (standing, kneeling, sitting, prone)

  • Proper use of cover and concealment

  • Tactical reloading

  • Tactical movement (pivots, turns, advances, withdrawals, sidestep, shooting while moving)

  • Night shooting (flashlight techniques)

  • Low light flashlight shooting

  • One hand presentation, shooting, manipulation

  • Shooting around vehicles

  • Handgun retention

  • Be evaluated in speed and accuracy drills

  • 1500 rounds

COMPETITION PISTOL (2 days)

  • Prerequisite:  General Pistol

  • This class is designed for people who have taken the GENERAL PISTOL CLASS, which is a prerequisite, and are interested in learning more and better shooting techniques for the popular IPSC and competition 3-gun matches

  • Safe and efficient gun handling techniques for action sports

  • Marksmanship for competition shooting, near and far

  • Mental preparation and analyzing the stage

  • Moving into and out of positions, setting up for the shot

  • Setting up at windows, moving through doors and down hallways

  • Shooting steel target arrays

  • Shooting on the move, turning to the target

  • Speed shooting

  • Personal training techniques

GENERAL RIFLE (2 days)

This class introduces you to the fundamentals for employing the AR .223 or the AK style semi-automatic rifles for personal defense or competition from arms length out to 300 yards.

  • Firearms safety, marksmanship, how to zero, and trajectory

  • Firing positions, use of cover, snaps, indoor/outdoor tactics, malfunction clearance

  • 750 rounds

TACTICAL SHOTGUN (2 days)

Tactical shotgun is designed to give you solid fundamentals for operation and use for practical/tactical situations.

  • Firearms safety, shotgun operation

  • Discuss equipment, ammunition, chokes, ammunition, and reloading techniques

  • Patterning to 15 yards, slug zeroing at 50 yards

  • 500 birdshot, 50 buckshot, 50 slugs

INTRODUCTION TO FIREARMS (1 day)

Introduction to Firearms teaches the basic safety, knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using rifles, pistols and shotguns.

  • Learn about the types of firearms, rifle, pistol, and shotgun

  • Be familiar with different types of ammunition used in rifles, pistols, and shotguns

  • Gain knowledge about the types of shooting equipment and accessories

  • Learn firearms safety for all firearms

  • Understand the difference between personal defense and competition

  • Gain a basic understanding of  marksmanship fundamentals for all firearms

  • Watch a video about types of shooting competitions

  • Shoot a wide variety of rifles, pistols, and shotguns

You will get to shoot a .22 revolver and pistol, a 9mm, .40 caliber and .45 caliber pistol, a semi-automatic .22 rifle and an AR15 (M16 type) rifle, and tactical semi-automatic and pump 12 gauge shotguns.  Other firearms that will be available to shoot include:   a .308 bolt action precision rifle, and M-1 Garand rifle, a 30-30 Winchester lever action rifle and a cowboy revolver.

Only provided ammunition will be allowed in my firearms.  You will be provided with 50 rds. .22 long rifle, 20 rds. 9mm Ball, 20 rds. .40 caliber Ball, 20 rds. .45 caliber Ball, 20 rds. 5.5mm Ball, for shotgun 25 rds. Birdshot, 5 rds. 00 Buckshot, and 5 rds. Slug.  Other ammunition or more ammunition will be available for a fee.
